The making of The Fight of Our Lives: Defeating the Ideological War Against the West was critically important to me. Following my first three documentary films (The Case for Israel: Democracy’s Outpost, Unmasked Judeophobia, and Body and Soul: The State of the Jewish Nation), I understood that it was essential to view contemporary lethal Jew-hatred and the calls to destroy the Jewish state through the broader context of the ideological war against the West.
The foundation of Western Civilization is the Hebrew Bible and the Judeo-Christian values that emanate from it. Therefore, for enemies to effectively defeat the West, they must initiate hate campaigns which demonize and delegitimize these values and they must persecute and murder Christians and Jews. That is what we see happening today.
We cannot work in silos. As Robert Nicholson states in The Fight of Our Lives, “Jews and Christians insofar as they don’t recognize that they are on the same side, or even what they share, or the substance of the culture that they are trying to preserve, will really be at a loss in trying to confront these threats from both postmodern secularism and fundamentalist Islam.”
The threats that we are facing are coming from both internal and external ideas and movements. Totalitarian forces are strengthening, and the enforcement of “politically correct” thinking, speaking, and writing is tightening its grip within academia, society, culture, and politics.
At the same time, courageous and thoughtful voices are rising with determination and clarity. I am indebted to the brilliant and articulate scholars and experts who agreed to be interviewed for this film. It is on their merits—and the merits of all good and decent individuals and institutions that work to protect our political, economic, and religious freedoms—that we will defeat the ideological war against the West.
